French Exit shines a light on the transitory nature of all things. From childhood friends and high school sweethearts, to memories of homes we grew up in, places we visited, and the people who enter and exit our lives in ephemerality. How these things gracefully fade, often idly and unceremoniously without so much as a farewell.

 

Using materials to inform, the work is carefully fabricated using yarn as a metamorphic material that can be rendered into familiar or symbolic objects like hands for letting go, and butterflies for transformation.
